Don’t miss out on talent show fundraiser
There will be a special guest appearance by Shylo Pereira.
It’s almost time for Umdoni Christian Academy’s Got Talent this Saturday (2nd).
The line-up features a wide range of performances, including singing, ballet (with a special solo en pointe performance by a senior dancer), modern dance, rhythmic gymnastics, drumming, guitar and classical piano. The acting segments will range from hilarious poems to thought-provoking monologues and engaging group scenes.
There will be a special guest appearance by Shylo Pereira – a renowned performer and judge who has graced stages both internationally and locally.
Shylo grew up in KZN and has a rich background in the performing arts. She competed in numerous competitions, winning many categories in voice, piano-forte and violin.
As a member of the St Mary’s Touring Choir, the KZN Youth Choir and the South African Youth Orchestra, Shylo toured internationally throughout her school career. After completing her studies at the Academy of Contemporary Music in the UK with honours cum laude in performing arts, she performed alongside global artists like Norah Jones and bands like Simple Minds and Blondie.
In 2014, she won the Overall Grand Champion for Musical Theatre at the South African Championships of Performing Arts (SACOPA) and competed in the World Championships in Hollywood, where she earned an International Industry Award.
She is the director and founder of Project Performer, a national platform that provides young and talented performers in singing, dancing and acting the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Project Performer is aligned with major industry professionals and offers scholarships and prizes worth over a million rand.
This is more than just a talent show for the school – it’s a fundraiser to help rehabilitate UCA’s two fields, providing a better space for learners to play sports and enjoy outdoor activities.
Doors open at 14:00, and the show begins at 14:30 sharp.
