Jai Hind preps for coding and robotics

It aims to equip learners with essential skills for the 21st century.

Foundation phase teachers at Jai Hind Primary recently attended a coding and robotics training workshop in preparation for the introduction of this new subject in 2025.

The Department of Education announced the implementation of coding and robotics for learners from Grade R to Grade 3, aiming to open doors to the exciting world of computers.

It aims to equip learners with essential skills for the 21st century and prepare them for the large array of job opportunities in this market.

This subject will be taught in an engaging and interactive way, emphasising hands-on, unplugged activities suited to young learners. The curriculum will cover computer basics and introduce coding concepts, which will allow learners to develop foundational skills in coding in a fun and accessible manner.

The teachers who attended the three-day training program are excited about the launch and indicated that this will benefit the young learners critical thinking, creativity and digital fluency.
