Scottburgh High shines in cross country league

Scottburgh High (SHS) recently hosted the inter-school cross country league race, showcasing the exceptional talent of its athletes.

The event brought together competitors from various schools, with SHS emerging as a standout performer. As the community reflects on the results, the school celebrates the remarkable achievements of its runners.

Leading the charge was Sfiso Gumede who claimed first place in the boys U17 6km race in an impressive time of 23 minutes and 35 seconds. His determination set the tone for the day.

Lesedi Mthethwa followed suit, securing first place in the U16 boys category in a time of 25 minutes and 36 seconds, demonstrating his strength and endurance.

Samkelo Ngcobo rounded out the boys’ highlights with a solid second place in the boys U17 6km, clocking 25 minutes and 37 seconds.

The girls’ U16 category also saw remarkable success, with Mayenziwe Dlamini taking first place in a time of 21 minutes and 28 seconds, showcasing her speed and skill.

She was supported by strong performances from Londeka Mpungose and Asibulele Mbhele, who finished second and third respectively, adding to the team’s triumph.

As the school looks forward to future competitions, the success of this event will remain a highlight of the season, inspiring both current and future athletes.
