Umdoni Christian Academy’s athletes excel at provincial games
The school proudly celebrates an outstanding group of children who achieved medals and qualified to higher levels of competition.
The recent KwaZulu-Natal Christian Schools Sports Association’s (KZNCSSA) provincial athletics games held in Pietermaritzburg proved to be an incredible showcase of Umdoni Christian Academy learners’ strength, speed and spirit.
From the youngest competitors to the senior athletes, the school proudly celebrates an outstanding group of children who achieved medals and qualified to higher levels of competition.
Results are as follows:
Jo-Anna Pratt – a powerful thrower and speedy sprinter showcased incredible all-around athletic ability and is in the top 30.
Gold – shotput (QS), bronze – 80m sprint (QS) and reached final 3 of 3 in the 80m (QS).
Grace Pratt – dominated the field events, bagging medals and qualifying in multiple disciplines and is in the top 30.
Gold – shotput (QS), bronze – turbo javelin (QS) and finalist – long jump (QS).
Olivia Cox – a field-event all-rounder stood on the podium in three separate disciplines.
Gold – javelin (QS, WS, KZNR), silver – shotput (QS) and silver – high jump (QS).
Isabella van der Merwe – a rising middle-distance star who showed grit and endurance in both her races.
Silver – 800m (QS) and bronze – 1500m (QS).
Reece Ruiter – sprinted and threw his way into the top spots, qualifying in three different events.
First for high jump (U14 boys), bronze – 100m (QS), finalist – 200m (QS) and qualified – javelin, 100m and 200m (QS).
Divan van Rooy – reached the qualifying mark with an excellent jump.
Qualified – high jump (QS).
Mthwazi Sithole – outperformed the competition with a dominant throw.
Gold – turbo javelin (QS).
Jiselle Munien – a standout senior athlete who represented the school with two strong performances.
Silver – long jump and qualified – javelin (QS)
UCA athletes achieved four gold medals, six silver, six bronze and over 20 qualifying standards (QS) across various disciplines.
Each athlete’s performance speaks to the hard work, commitment and team spirit that defines their athletics programme. Their achievements bring pride not only to themselves, but to the entire school community.
UCA looks forward to supporting these talented individuals as they continue their athletic journeys.
