DEAR Editor,-
I would like to respond to the letter in last week’s Herald over the headline ‘It’s the police who need to be policed’ and fully agree with reader ‘MG’ about this matter of police misbehaviour.
We need to understand and always bear in mind that nowadays not everyone in police uniform or vehicle is really a policeman although employed by SAPS. It is the responsibility of the communiry to ensure safety and security for themselves.
We need as a community to be aware of crime committed by police as well as the law allows it in SAPS Act 68 of 1995, chapter 15(e) where it says there should be effective civilian supervision over police.
