Meters are not being read

Why can’t meter readings be submitted via cellphone?

DEAR Editor,-

Our water meter has not been read for four months.

I sent the municipality an email in September hoping our meter would be read in October, but that did not happen.

If they find it so difficult to take the readings why not let us have a cell number to which we can submit our readings as Eskom does and it works well?

I take a reading every month and my reading differs from theirs by 19kl, which is not a small difference. August and September were dry months and it was necessary to water the garden, hence the difference in usage of approximately R300, which the consumer is expected to pay when a reading is finally taken one day.

What seems to be the problem? By writing to you, I am hoping our meters will be read.
