DEAR Editor,-
Good news – recently at the ‘yesterday, today and tomorrow’ traffic lights, a speeding taxi came roaring through the red light. On the opposite side of the road were three HCM traffic officers and immediately their flashing lights and sirens came on. After the pursuit, they managed to stop the taxi opposite Doug’s Hardware.
We went to fill up with petrol and then went home to fetch my forgotten cellphone. On our way back, they were still busy ticketing the guy, so we stopped and asked for their names. Congratulations to traffic officers Nowell Khowa, Mzwandile Nzimande and Norman Lushaba.
Mostly these infractions of the law are ignored, but well done to these three gentlemen in fulfilling their duty. As officer Khowa said to me “these taxi drivers do not realise that they are endangering the lives of mothers and fathers with their irresponsible behaviour”.
