DEAR Editor,-
We accept that in all walks of life there will unfortunately be people who have no respect for others or the natural enviroment they live in, but we also need to respect those that do care and go to great lengths to enforce this. Let’s take this as an opportunity to express our feelings and the awareness that, yes, we do need to respect the environment we live in, if not for ourselves, then for future generations to enjoy.
While it is our belief, as recreational anglers, that there is no way the angler with rod and reel has had a detrimental impact on our fish species along our coastline, but rather extensive legal and illegal netting and long-lining that takes place in our waters. But that is a whole other basket of eggs that needs opening.
I personally would like to thank you for raising your concerns as I think this may make people think next time. But let’s rather do it in a diplomatic manner whereby we respect each other as individuals, as well as fisherman.
