DEAR Editor,-
In reply to the letter, ‘Monkey troupe senselessly killed’ by Heartbroken, I also live in the same area and get my bi-weekly visits from these monkeys but, unlike yourself, I enjoy the presence of feathered birds.
The monkeys also enjoy the birdlife. They eat their eggs and the young in the nest so we have a low population of birdlife in the area. The monkeys love the bird seed I put out also.
Last year I observed a martial eagle and a few Cape eagles trying to catch monkeys – what a joyful sight that was. We need to breed multitudes of these raptors.
You guessed it, I am not a friend of monkeys. Unfortunately I am not the shooter. For me, monkeys are vermin.
