‘Another motorist fined wrongly’

Fined - despite paying to park.

DEAR Editor,-

Like Bev Copeland (Herald, June 13), despite paying for a parking meter ticket I also received a R200 fine.

Enough is enough!

After battling for nearly 10 of the 20 minutes you get for your R2 to retrieve the ticket from the machine I ran into the Shoprite Centre in Wooley Street only to find the queue too long. After a dash to the mobile shop and finding the same story, I decided to call it a day and head back to my car, only to find a R200 parking fine ticket on my window.

The infringement particulars wrongly claim ‘failure to put parking meter into operation’. This is absolute rubbish. I have my parking ticket which shows proof of payment.

I certainly won’t be paying. They can do what they want.
