‘Tourists are lured under false pretences’

The infrastructure is becoming non-existent, but councillors demand increases for not doing their jobs.

DEAR Editor,-

I refer to the article ‘What a stink’ (Authorities have simply turned a blind eye to health problems) on the front page of last week’s Herald.

It has become an everyday occurrence on the coast that the infrastructure is becoming non-existent, yet councillors demand their five percent plus salary increases – for not doing their jobs!

Taxpayers should now also demand to get involved in the decision-making within the ranks of HCM and Ugu with regards to how our money should be utilised.

The ongoing non-service delivery throughout SA that we read about in newspapers week after week, will lead us to yet another Sudan, and taxpayers indirectly contribute towards it.

Tourists who come to the South Coast during holiday times are lured here via the tourism board under false pretences and that is sad. Imagine telling a family upon arrival that there has been no water for days and they in turn tell you that they saw water gushing down a road and/or just drove through a sewage spill?
