‘Blue flag is fading fast’

A task force should be appointed to prevent crime on the beach every holiday season.

DEAR Editor,-

The article ‘Criminals target beachgoers’ (Herald, July 18) where Captain Gerald Mfeka is pictured on the beach advising people to be on the alert for criminals refers.

Captain, my captain, you are pathetic by saying that – instead form a task force to prevent crime during each and every holiday season!

While on the beach, another stink fills the air – this time from the lifeguard building.

As a local reading the Herald (which is passed on to friends and family in Durban), I can only cringe with disgust and feel sorry for the tourism board trying to fly a blue flag that is fading fast to white. It is a sign of ‘hensop’ (hands in the air)!
