‘Walk lights up people’s lives’

The weather was kind, the walk beautiful, the food delicious and everyone had a wonderful time.

DEAR Editor,-

On behalf of the Hibiscus Rotary Club of Margate and Uvongo, we would like to thank the community for their generous support and sponsorship, ensuring a successful 30th Rotary Grandparents’ Walk. This event is a community service to our senior citizens, who have played a significant part in the economy of the South Coast for many years.

As this is a popular event for senior citizens, we are blessed that we were able to give a cooked breakfast to over 300 grandparents. The weather was kind, the walk beautiful, the food delicious and everyone had a wonderful time.

Well done to all who completed the walk, as well as to those who won lucky draw prizes. We thank the grandparents for their kind donation of a toiletry item, which will be donated to needy charities on the South Coast. The generous donations of money, food and goods enable us to not only stage the event, but also to support community projects of Rotarians and Rotary Anns.

Long after the walk itself, these funds will enable us to light up people’s lives as we ‘Light up Rotary’. A huge thank you to the hardworking Hibiscus Coast Rotarians and Rotary Ann teams.
