‘Road resembles a moon crater’

This state of disrepair is not a good advertisement for holidaymakers or prospective investors.

DEAR Editor,-

My wife and I own timeshare at Glenmore Sands and we spend a week there during May each year, usually the last week as was the case this year.

We were shocked at the state of the road leading from the main South Coast road down to Glenmore Sands. The road resembles a moon crater and in places it is impossible to miss some of the potholes – there are too many and they are too close together.

Obviously we travelled this road at least twice a day on our return trips between Margate and Port Edward and with this road being in such a bad state, it was not a pleasure to go out. We actually dreaded the thought of driving along this potholed road because there are also no signs of what lay ahead or around the next curve.

By the end of the week, one of my tyres had been damaged beyond repair and except for before we knew what we were in for upon arrival, when we did go out, we drove very slowly.

Having lived in Margate quite a few years ago, it was sad to see how the infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and some of the roads into Port Edward and surrounds are not in good shape at all.

I trust that the responsible local authority will attend to the road(s) as a matter of urgency because this is not a good advertisement for holidaymakers or prospective investors.
