‘Estate agents ignore complex rules’

Obtaining the rules and regulations will eliminate the unpleasant experiences that follow.

DEAR Editor,-

When a property becomes available in a complex, whether for sale or to let, estate agents handling the viewing and subsequent agreements totally disregard the body corporate rules and regulations, especially regarding pets, but obviously in favour of making a ‘quick buck’

This has led to several altercations with new owners or tenants regarding pets, especially when they have never been informed of the ruling or have been told it’s not a problem and signed the agreement, unaware of the rules.

Existing owners and tenants are demanding to know why they are being sidelined and penalised and have to comply with rules, when new owners and tenants don’t.

I respectfully request that all estate agents approach body corporates prior to a viewing and/or sale, to obtain the rules and regulations which will eliminate the unpleasant experiences that follow otherwise.

Recent events have had prospective buyers extremely disheartened after viewing and wishing to purchase and then being told of the pet restrictions by the body corporate.

This can all be avoided if agents didn’t bring clients to view the property when they know there is a pet restriction that conflicts with their prospective buyers’ or tenants’ wishes or choices.

CONCERNED BODY CORPORATE
