Daily Devotion: ‘He will do it’

Remain faithful to what you need to do at work today – ask in His name, move straight into action, and do everything so our Father may be glorified.

THINGS have been difficult lately at work. It’s close to our financial year-end, and it’s a challenge to meet the community needs with the limited budget. Both colleagues and friends struggle to make ends meet regardless of their respective workplaces. In some instances, there have been ungodly layoffs – and the fear of layoffs continues. So many people struggling just to make it into tomorrow.

It seems to be a common occurrence – few resources, big needs, many fears, and always that feeling of helplessness. I struggle just to maintain a positive attitude.

I’m an early bird, and so I arrive before anyone else. I pour a cup of coffee and open my Bible. I read: If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it. I look through my office window on the 19th floor and watch the dawning over the city. As I ponder this verse, the Lord confirms the truth of His Word: He will do it. Just as He is faithful to maintain the rising of the sun each morning, so He is faithful not to let me down.

He will guide your daily work-life. He will empower you to execute to the best of your ability all that is put forward to you. He will equip you with wisdom and skill to deliver excellent work amidst constraint and fear. Everything He does for you is to glorify our Father.

So, you must not focus on your circumstance. Remain faithful to what you need to do at work today – ask in His name, move straight into action, and do everything so our Father may be glorified.

And when that is your purpose, know He will do it. Yes, whatever is wrong today concerning your job, ask in His name and glorify Him.

He will do it.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your everlasting faithfulness. Help me not to focus on my circumstance, but to keep my eyes fixed on You. Thank You for Your kept-promise of doing what I ask when I ask in Jesus name. Today of all workdays, I ask for Your guidance and wisdom as I execute what is set before me — so that You may be glorified. In Jesus name, I ask in prayer. Amen.
