‘Water quality clarified’

Is this not a scary sight, considering that this comes directly from the taps we drink from?

DEAR Editor,-

I recently had to drain the pool at my home in Ramsgate because the resin overlay was in bad shape and required repairing. Cracks and unsightly marks necessitated the work and, subsequent to the repair, I left the hose running to refill the pool.

When I checked on the progress a few hours later, imagine my total surprise when I saw the colour of the water. So apart from having to pay for the enormous amount of water that refilling a pool requires, the chemicals to clear it would probably cost an arm and a leg.

My question is this: Is this not a scary sight, considering that this comes directly from the taps we drink from? Or is this the colour required when a pool is upgraded to a ‘fire pool’? And would this water extinguish or add fuel to the fire?
