SOUTH Coast Striders have a number of talented and committed runners. Many are doing the Comrades Marathon on Sunday, May 29 this year.
Some have run plenty, others are still very new to the race.
Here’s a look at some of them…
Lennox Mtengwane has 18 medals, including four Bill Rowans, 12 bronze and two Vic Claphams. He ran his first Comrades at the age of 34 in 1992.
Isak Ludick has 13 medals under his belt, including five Bill Rowans and eight bronze. He ran his first Comrades at the age of 43 in 2003. His fastest Comrades time is 8:43:45.
Cyril Mqadi has run 11 Comrades, receiving nine bronze medals and two Vic Claphams.
Martin Venter ran his first Comrades last year in a time of 11:01:37 at the age of 43 and received a Vic Clapham medal.
Mthobisi Mgedezi is 31 years old and will be attempting his first Comrades this year.
South Coast Striders is hosting the Hibiscus Coast Challenge on Wednesday, April 27 (Freedom Day public holiday).
There will be 10km, 24km and 48km distances.

Time trials are every Wednesday at 5.30pm at the clubhouse in Edward Avenue, Uvongo.
