DEAR Editor,-
We are constantly warned about water shortages and Ugu keeps reminding us of the penalties involved. Yet there has been a water leak in Marine Drive (opposite the Crayfish Inn) for more than a year now. A sewage spill 5m from said water leakage was attended to over the Easter weekend and this same leak has been reported umpteen times. Nothing has been done to rectify the problem. Ugu drives past this every day and it is still ignored.
Secondly, the skip situated opposite The Crayfish Inn and next to the Ramsgate beach walk is in a shocking state. The refuse is left to pile up for weeks on end. The next issue is the one-way being Clarence Road which is not adhered to by residents or holidaymakers because the road is littered with potholes. There are also no signs indicating that this is a one-way when exiting surrounding properties. Clarence Road, which circles back into Marine Drive (the so called one-way) is overgrown and littered with rubbish and potholes and is unfit for vehicles, hence the one-way being ignored.
Sadly the Ramsgate beach walk never gets cleaned and a tree, which fell over many moons ago, lies precariously balanced above the path. This is where all holidaymakers walk to go down to the beach. Ramsgate is said to be a Blue Flag beach, but maybe they should hang a red flag – in case of danger and injuries.
Another huge concern is that residents behind The Crayfish Inn are dumping their rubbish on the pavement because the dustbins have been removed! Our gardener has to clean the mess on a weekly basis.
We love our neighbourhood. We love our country – even in these harsh climatical and economical conditions. Please Ugu, this is such an eyesore! Send someone to assess the situation.
GWEN
Ramsgate
