OPINION: ‘Why are meter readings not reflected?’

The jury on their efficiency with regard to their prompt provision of invoices is still out.

DEAR Editor,-

We recently moved to the South Coast and what a hassle it has been to obtain regular water bills from Ugu District Municipality!

Obviously, we registered with them originally and after four months of not receiving invoices, we went to their offices and were issued with some invoices. Thereafter we have had to practically beg Ugu for an invoice.

The jury on their efficiency with regard to their prompt provision of invoices is still out.

But I have a serious concern. The meter reading for water consumption is not reflected on the invoice/statement. Despite having written to them on several occasions requesting an answer, we have not had a reply. Surely, it is a basic component of billing that the meter reading is declared? Does anyone know why Ugu District Municipality does not declare the meter reading on their statements?
