“Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “where are you?” So he said, “I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” And He said, “who told you that you were naked?” Genesis 3:9-11
THE great deception that caused Adam to sin against God, brought all of humanity under a cloud of judgment and effectively banished us from the presence of God.
To a world cut off from Him. To a darkness where only the light of His love can come in.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Sadly, even after the cross, many of God’s people today, still live in fear and shame.
There are those who really love God, but serve Him believing that they can make restitution for their past mistakes. This is an endless cycle of defeat.
Then there are others who have given up on God and want nothing to do with Him because they find His laws too grievous and demanding and by their own estimate they don’t measure up.
This present deception strips the Body of Christ of its identity and authority and renders the church of Jesus Christ weak and powerless.
It seems we need to constantly be reminded that Christ’s finished work on the cross has effectively removed our sins, in that it has covered our nakedness, removed our shame and taken away our reproach.
Not only are we free and have been liberated from the curse of sin and death but we have also been given this divine privilege to freely eat of the Tree of Life.
It is also the wisdom that is from God which when we receive is able to keep and preserve us in these perilous times and that which also empowers us to live in the glory of His grace.
I find it interesting that after God had pronounced a judgment of death on all of mankind, that Adam names his wife and he calls her Eve which means life or living. (Genesis 3:20)
Perhaps, in naming her ’life’ or ‘living’ was in praise to God for sparing their lives, after their unbelief had led them to disobey Him.
Or perhaps it was a cry to be reconciled to His Father, to enjoy the life and fellowship that he once had with Him.
Maybe life has gone horribly wrong for you and it may seem that your sin has separated you from God. Refuse that voice of deception. God loves you.
In fact, He has never stopped loving you. He loves you with an everlasting love.
You are the object of His affection – His delight; and there is nothing on earth, in heaven or under the earth that is able to separate you from the love that He has for you.
So rest in all that He has done for you because in His love, there is no fear.
