DEAR Editor,-
Where have the freight trains gone that used to run past Umtentweni, Sea Park, Melville and Hibberdene every day? These trains would run towards Port Shepstone CBD and then pass under the road where the Port Shepstone Country Club is to pick up freight somewhere in the area and then head back the other way towards Durban. (We have no idea what their destinations are.)
They stopped running more than a month ago and we miss them.
The railway line runs about 10 metres from our front door in Melville and we loved seeing and hearing the trains. Can anyone tell us if they will be running again? We thought it might have been due to the recent problem at the oil refineries, but that problem seems to have died down.
