OPINION: ‘Thank you for restoring my faith’

We need to stand united against this scourge and support the police so that we all have a better and safer future.

DEAR Editor,-

My 77 year-old father was brutally attacked and robbed at his house in Trafalgar on September 15. It was an incredibly traumatising event for him as well as for us, his family, who live in Johannesburg.

Instead of being filled with hate and negativity, we would like to rather focus on the positives.

Firstly, the Margate police have been unbelievably helpful and supportive and they are doing a great job! To the community, friends, and even strangers, thank you for restoring my faith in humanity.

We were overwhelmed with kindness, compassion, help and support from everyone we interacted with in the subsequent few days.

We should not allow these criminals to intimidate us in any form or shape. What has become clear to me is that we need to stand united against this scourge and also support the police by doing our part so that we all have a better and safer future.
