DEAR Editor,-
I have seen many graduates, especially from TVET colleges, sitting at home with N4-N6 Business Management Certificates. The qualification holds a lot of value and many students have achieved excellent results.
I now live in fear as I will be in this category of not being able to find some kind of business internship training in 2017.
We live in an area where they are no jobs available any more. What does our future hold without any experience or mentoring? Yes, I admit there are not many companies or businesses in Port Shepstone, but some graduates from rural areas possess such valuable knowledge and are willing to relocate just for an internship or a permanent job.
The Department of Labour cannot help us graduates, yet we can lecture at a TVET college or perform any office-related work.
All I’m asking for is that businesses please offer internships for graduates as part of corporate community responsibility. Is that too much to ask?
