OPINION: ‘Thanks for making the project a reality’

The project has been completed in time for the busy holiday season.

DEAR Editor,-

A partnership between Ray Nkonyeni Municipality and the Ratepayers’ Forum in Umtentweni has led to improved parking conditions at the popular Umtentweni beachfront. This was the idea of Selvan Chetty.

The ratepayers provided all the materials for the project, including the plans, whilst the municipality will provide the services of an excavator and the asphalt to cover exposed areas. In addition, the Ratepayers’ Forum will rectify the damaged kerbing on the upper level of the car park. The project has been completed in time for the busy holiday season.

We would like to thank the sponsors AW Edwards Electrical for the supervision and labour and Port Shepstone Precast, and in particular Jean and Guy Osborne and Mr Raath for their kind and generous contribution of retaining blocks. The Ratepayers’ Forum would also like to thank municipal manager Maxwell Mbili and HOD Sabatha Dlamini for their intervention in helping make this project a reality in record time.
