Just wondering – some people took a lot of credit in December 2016 for keeping the public informed of the water problems via social media.
They even contacted and convinced eTV and eNCA news to come to Port Edward to report on the news to inform everybody about the water crisis and that the municipality is dysfunctional.
Where did they get their information from? Ugu for sure – who actually worked to get the water flowing again.
The result: visitors leaving early and others just cancelling their holidays after being informed of the problems via social media, provincial newspapers and TV.
Now the same people predict that this last season was probably the worst in living memory.
I cannot understand their actions. On the one side they said they want to improve the area, but what they are actually doing is destroying the economy of the South Coast.
Not everybody was without water. Some did take the municipality’s advice to have a backup plan if in the hospitality business (water tanks).
Let me tell you the secret – it’s our municipality and we must build its reputation for our benefit and we will reap the rewards.
Do not play the blame game to get fame; get involved and be part of the solution so that everybody can be proud to live in and visit our town.
