THIS is an open letter to Ugu in regard to poor service delivery.

I have a holiday property in Margate and suffered loss of income during December 2016 due to the water crisis that literally took days to solve. Because of this fiasco, my (then) visitors cancelled their booking.

Needless to say, this was during the best holiday season of the year with Margate at its peak. Yet your service delivery was extremely poor to say the least. Many visitors opted to return home, disappointed.

Now again, we are closing in on another peak season holiday period, the Easter weekend, and yet again you did not disappoint!

Currently beaches are closed with another water crisis and sewage problem at hand and my current visitors, again cancelled their booking.

I’m afraid visitors who booked for April and the Easter break will follow suit when the word gets out. Soon, social media will warn potential visitors to avoid the South Coast this coming holiday season. And I don’t blame them.

This is pathetic! Not only is it tarnishing the South Coast as a dismal holiday destination, it is also hurting the economic growth of these towns and the local small businessmen directly, who we all know are dependent on tourists.

You leave me with no other choice but to put my property up for sale. My property is no longer a sound investment, but rather a frustration.

It is pointless owning holiday property in Margate and visitors cancelling bookings due to poor service delivery from the local municipality.

Ugu municipality, which supposedly should be assisting homeowners to make the South Coast a preferred holiday destination, is a disgrace and again is showing its incompetence and mismanagement!

I know of many other homeowners feeling exactly the same way. So keep up the good work and enjoy the declining statistics of the South Coast becoming the very worst holiday destination.
