OPINION: ‘The South Coast really needs something new and different to change our current image’

It is surely a no-brainer that an official naturist beach, well sign-posted, promoted and advertised overseas as well as nationally will attract hundreds more such tourists and their 'spend'.

DEAR Editor,-

I walk my dog from Trafalgar to Mpenjati three or four times a week and within the last ten days I was approached by and spoke to three tourist couples (German and French Canadian) wanting to know where the naturist beach was.

They had read or heard about it in overseas naturist magazines or word of mouth.

These tourists had great difficulty in finding the beach (which influenced their decision to include the South Coast in their South African tour).

It is surely a no-brainer that an official naturist beach, well sign-posted, promoted and advertised overseas as well as nationally will attract hundreds more such tourists and their ‘spend’ to use tourist jargon.

The South Coast really needs something new and different to change our current image and a nightclub in the Mpenjati Reserve because the Parks Board needs money is not the best way to go.
