Yes! We had problems with water services over the festive season. Just like many other holiday places throughout the country, we still have issues, but we are confident the worst is over.
Water in general is flowing and so is sewage… to the right places this time.
Lagoons everywhere will always be dodgy to swim in, but our beaches are open and we proudly fly more Blue Flags than anywhere else.
Oh, we also have some of the best golf courses in the country plus the exciting and beautiful Oribi Gorge a mere 30 minutes inland.
‘Entertainment’, you ask?
Some of the country’s best musos are headed this way for Bike Fest in Margate at the end of April. It will be difficult to find a more cost-effective, fun and exciting place to be these Easter holidays and beyond.

Of course, there will be regulars on the local ‘whinge’ site who will be grinding their teeth at the above statements, many still hell bent on pestering Carte Blanche to ‘expose the rot’ in our Ugu District Municipality.
Talk about cutting one’s nose off to spite one’s face!
The truth is that Ugu is far wiser now after the festive season fiasco and the problems have been elevated to provincial and national levels.
With all the hoo-hah behind the scenes, on the street, in the press and on social media, Mr Naidoo and his team would have to be deaf, blind or stupid to risk a ‘kykweer’ of the festive season. (Now, don’t be nasty. It’s easy to read what some ‘whingers’ are thinking as they read this.)
Nobody disputes that our water and sewerage systems need replacing or upgrading. However, it’s not a ‘blink… WOW’ sort of thing.
Who really knows? Maybe some funds did go astray and Ugu could have been more efficient over the past 23 years? But there is also no disputing that they have had to play post ’94 catch-up.
Whatever needs to be done will be… eventually. But that will obviously only happen as and when finances allow. Heads will roll too if courts or politicians decide it should be so.
Meanwhile, the South Coast is still magic… warts and all.
