CONSPIRACY theories abound in this country and it’s difficult to sift out the truth from the bull.
How many times (particularly in the past few weeks) have you said: “No! this can’t be true.” And it turns out to be just that.
You should probably take this with a pinch of salt as it emanates from a little Easter downtime TV viewing, coupled with a vivid imagination inspired by a whirlwind of recent political developments.
Does our president also have access to Netflix and, if so, has he been watching the enthralling true life series, Narcos?
It’s all about one of the world’s all-time biggest hoods… Pablo Escobar. His mother actually visited this country at some stage.
He came from peasant stock in Colombia and worked his way up the crime ladder to become the head of the feared Medellin Cartel, which basically flooded America with 80 percent of its cocaine.
Now, is it a coincidence that the Cape ‘High’ Court has suddenly ruled that it should be legal to grow dagga in one’s back yard for personal use? OK, it still has to go through the parliamentary pipe(line), but is this the start of something????
Then, Escobar was also elected to Colombia’s government as a Robin Hood-type figure, ‘taking from the rich (Americans) to give to the poor’.

Does that ring a bell? Think ‘White Monopoly Capital’ and ‘Radical Economic Transformation’, people!!!! Of course, Pablo, his family and friends also became very rich along the way. And there were chicks galore, he-he-he.
Unfortunately for Pablo, he was discredited in government and, in a fit of rage, he wreaked havoc in the country to such an extent that the Colombian government was forced to capitulate.
They agreed to charge him on some minor offence and let him build his own ‘jail’, called La Cathedral, to serve out his relatively minor sentence. It had a pleasant view over the city of Medellin and he even employed his own prison guards. Does alleged ‘fraud’ and Nkandla suddenly spring to mind????
Of course, the CIA, FBI, DEA and all sorts of other sinister American agencies were also involved. Is it just coincidence that we have our own conspiracy report involving a ‘Russian with a C name’ who got Pravin Gordhan fired? KGB perhaps????
Tragically (for Pablo), it didn’t end well. He was shot dead by the police in 1993… just before the birth of our democracy.
Could our president be the Escobar of our country? No… just kidding.
