DEAR Editor,-
Please convey to Libby Cochrane my thanks and appreciation for the excellent account she wrote about Paul Buck and his home Douzamanzi which appeared in the April 7 edition of the Herald.
May I appeal to the Herald and to Libby for regular features in the paper about the history of places or personalities who lived in this area?
I am sure that this will be of interest to many of your readers and these articles could become a most valuable archival collection for future generations.
The Southern Natal History Society, which was formed in August 1997, has over the years had many interesting speakers, but unless those speakers kindly submitted a copy of their prepared notes to the society, that information has been lost.
I believe it’s so important to have such records available, which need to be written and printed, especially in our local newspaper.
YOU MIGHT ALSO BE INTERESTED IN : OPINION: ‘How about a regular history column?’
Please advise when the above-mentioned article will be posted onto the Herald’s website, as I have several friends living overseas whom I know would be most interested to read it.
ANNE
Editor: Thanks Anne. Libby certainly is a gem and we are currently speaking to her to write on a more regular basis.
