OPINION: ‘Improvements give hope’

Thank you for your continual endeavors to ensure that Scottburgh remains a first class holiday resort and town.

DEAR Editor,-

I was quick to bring my concerns about the Scottburgh beachfront to your attention on my last visit to Scottburgh in March. Thank you for publishing my concerns and pictures of the little girl who fell through the railing.

I have again been down at my flat over the past three weeks and would like, on this occasion, to compliment authorities on the improvements which are quite apparent:

– The metal grid has been replaced at the pool, lifesavers are on duty at the pool on busy days and the pool is out of bounds while it it is being emptied on a Tuesday;

– The railing at the top level of the building has been repaired; and

– Lifesavers have been far more vigilant at the designated swimming area on the beach.

These improvements, together with the fact that the toilets are at present being repaired and Vertigo Bar and Restaurant is about to open, give me confidence that our beachfront is fast becoming an area of which we can be proud.
