OPINION: Medics, strangers and friends are amazing

I wish I could remember everyone by name but those hours are a blur.

DEAR Editor,-

I collapsed in my doctor’s waiting room at the Palm Centre in Margate on May 17 and there are few words to adequately express my gratitude to the many people who helped me.

From my doctor to his receptionist, to the laboratory staff, the kind person who took me by car to the hospital, to the doctors and nurses at the casualty department at Netcare Margate Hospital, to the caring angels in the high care unit and my friends – your kindness has overwhelmed me. I wish I could remember everyone by name but those hours are a blur.

A special word of thanks also goes to David and Sue Kirby whom I am blessed to have in my life. We live in a caring community.
