OPINION: ‘Disgruntled’ stirs up a hornet’s nest

With his curdled attitude to life, 'Disgruntled' would not be welcome at the meeting.

DEAR Editor,-

I would not normally spare the time or the paper to reply to the anonymous letter written by ‘Disgruntled’ (SCH June 23), who criticises, condemns and complains about the committee driving the ‘Fix Margate’ campaign. The anonymity gives me license to reply and draw the conclusions I am about to record.

‘Disgruntled’ obviously does not have a vested interest in anything, but himself and delights in destroying the work of those who do.

Where does ‘Disgruntled’ get the impression that the participants in the ‘Fix Margate’ are going down the tubes? As a commission-earning salesman, I value my time and only agreed to be part of the initiative because they are all winners and have proved themselves so over many years.

At a guess, I would suggest that ‘Disgruntled’ has no vested interest in anything, but stirring up hornets nests, using cat’s paws to take chestnuts out of the fire and probably has dual citizenship and a pension from England, Holland or some European country, and only lives here because the rand is weak and he can have a decent standard of living versus the pauper’s lifestyle that his pension would buy him in the country of his origin.

Enough. Let me say that every one of the committee and co-opted members DO have a vested interest in business or own property in Margate and that is not a sin or a reason to badmouth them.

THEY are going to address all of these issues that ‘Disgruntled’ mentions in his letter. Although the invitation to the meeting is open, ‘Disgruntled’ with his curdled attitude to life would not be welcome.
