DEAR Editor,-
Week after week, month after month, year after year – every Thursday I check the Ster-Kinekor advert (‘Great Moments at their Greatest’) in the South Coast Herald, hoping to find a film worth going to see.
YOU MIGHT ALSO BE INTERESTED IN : OPINION: ‘Can you help Libby with historical information?’
One that doesn’t have titles like last week’s selection of ‘War for Planet of the Apes’, ‘Baywatch’, ‘Cars 3’, ‘The Mummy’, ‘Transformers’, ‘Despicable Me’ and ‘Spiderman’ … All the same ‘type’, which appears every week and may explain why these theatres seldom have more than five people in each at any screening.
Okay, it is school holidays. but Ster-Kinekor at Shelly Beach has seven theatres!
So why is it not possible for them to designate one of these theatres to screen films aimed at the adult market or at least to people above the age of 13 on a permanent weekly basis?
There are some good movies currently on circuit, but they never make it down here – why not? Adults also enjoy going to the movies. Great Moments … ? I hardly think so.
CHLOE DUTTON
