DEAR Editor,-
There has been a lot of reporting and letters to the South Coast Herald on the sad state of Margate. It is most unfortunate that some view these reports and letters as being negative, when in actual fact, all these reports and letters are very positive.
They afford us insight into the exact state of Margate and what visitors and local residents perceive and see when they come here on holiday or just during daily walks through Margate.

I think journalists should be applauded for having the courage to speak up and tell the truth, so that those who need to know what is wrong in Margate can perhaps find solutions to fix the problems.
With that said, I would personally like to thank journalist Shona Aylward for all her factual reporting on Margate. Without our reporters, we would all be in the dark about anything happening around us.
Shona reports the facts, is in no way negative about Margate, and investigates before anything is put into print. To quote what a journalist once said to me: “What use is it to report on how many aeroplanes are flying when all the air accidents are ignored.”
We all need to be aware of what is wrong in Margate and those who need to, should react and not view such reports as negative. Come and have a look and see for yourselves if anything reported on seems to be negative or not factual.
A big thank you again to Shona and, in fact, all reporters – you are all doing a splendid job by keeping us informed.
