OPINION: ‘Rickety walkway is affecting our business’

It appears the municipality does not see the urgency in this matter and if they ignore the problem long enough, it will go away.

DEAR Editor,-

I see there was another article in last week’s Herald (SCH July 14 ‘Man injured on beach’) about the terrible walkway in Banana Beach. This is such a frustrating story and seems to be never-ending. I have been in discussion with various parties since the article entitled ‘Slippery problem for Banana Beach area’ was published in the SCH November 4, 2016, but it is a constant passing of the buck, even the ward councilor is of no real help.

The problem is that this is starting to affect our business, is bad exposure and unhappy guests are voicing their disgust in various mediums like our Facebook page and so on. I received such a letter from one of our guests that stayed over last week.

The question is: What can we do? It appears the municipality does not see the urgency in this matter and thinks that,if they ignore the problem long enough, it will go away.
