OPINION: ‘Using seawater is the only option to fill the Olympic pool’

Reader suggests free passes for holidaymakers to use the pool for bathing and washing.

DEAR Editor,

I refer to two articles in the South Coast Herald of July 28 that appeared on page 3, namely, ‘Ugu shrugs off request’ and ‘Olympic pool to be fixed’. and have two questions about these very contradictory articles.

Where is the money coming from? And how on earth are they going to fill an Olympic size pool? Seawater is obviously the only option for the pool as there is no water to be had on the South Coast! Furthermore, when holidaymakers come down to this beleaguered coast will they get free passes to the pool – you know, for bathing and washing etc. as they probably won’t have water in-house?

YOU MIGHT ALSO BE INTERESTED INRNM issues assurances that Margate Olympic pool will be fixed

I feel there is supreme shortsightedness in this whole issue and can almost guarantee the pool won’t be fixed in time for the summer holidays and even if it actually comes to fruition there probably won’t be any holidaymakers to enjoy it!
