Romans chapter 5 vs 1 to 2 (New International Version)
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (2) through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
THERE’S a lot of good news in those scriptures. For a start, as a Christian, one is justified before God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
It’s not something we can achieve in our own strength. That’s why it’s called grace.
We are justified by our belief and faith in Christ … His death, resurrection and ascension.
There’s no possible way we can be justified before God the Father in anything of our own doing.
So, through a heartfelt acknowledgement of our own shortcomings and sins, due repentance, and a belief in Christ as our saviour, we have peace with God.
His shed blood on the cross saw to that. No more need to sacrifice to cover sins, as per the Jewish customs written about in the Old Testament.
In fact, the Bible records that the blood of Christ removes (not just covers) sins.

Isn’t that a massive relief?
He doesn’t hold our sin against us. He sees our lives hidden in Christ, and accepts us.
After having made peace with God, we now have access by faith into the grace which He has extended to us.
Life can be very tough at times, so that’s why we are encouraged to stand in this grace.
Our hope is in the glory of God, and of that we can boast. It sure seems a much better option than anything this world can offer in the long run.

When we look around and see all that is wrong, we can quickly get downcast and depressed.
But when we keep our eyes on the hope that God promises, then there is reason to be optimistic.
