DEAR Editor,-
Front page headlines ‘Vandals strike Village Green’ (safe for children?) and yet inside is a proposal which will provide vandals with another target, namely the Tweni Community Park. The Tweni beachfront has also been targeted by vandals on an ongoing basis. Does the tennis club want to attract vandals?

I am in full agreement with all points made by Nadine van Niekerk on this matter. I have had the privilege of seeing two species of buck in the Tweni area, so what will happen to them?
The people wanting this park say they want a safe place for children to play and where old people can enjoy the quiet and birds. A dream picture. I wonder what planet they live on? One is afraid of even going to the Tweni whale deck.
People don’t want to live next to a public park because of the noise, so properties will be devalued. Visit Tweni beach at a time when the braais are going to know that the noise level becomes unacceptable.
They have had no objections because the owners don’t know about it and their ratepayers’ meetings are badly advertised.
The people who want this park are the same people who want to force us to pay special rates – managed by them. Before special rates are implemented, owners should be allowed to vote in a well-advertised campaign, run by an independent body. Most owners don’t know what the special rates are about and this is the first that they have heard about the park. There should not even be a vote about the park before all points mentioned by Nadine are complied with.
I live near to the tennis courts and strongly object to this park development, as well as the special rates.
