2 Corinthians 3:1-3 (New International Version)
1 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you?
2 You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.
3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
THERE are some interesting words contained in this text, written by Paul to the church in Corinth.
In the Old Testament days, the Jewish people were obligated to follow the law, which had been given to Moses, written on tablets of stone – the famous 10 commandments.
The problem was no one could fully obey them.
But things changed after the arrival of Jesus Christ, his subsequent death and resurrection, and ascension to heaven.
Suddenly, salvation was not dependent on obeying the law (impossible to get right in thought, word and deed), but on a repentance of sins and belief that Jesus was the son of God, and the only way to the Father.
According to the Bible, Jesus is not on the Earth now, but at the right hand of the Father. The Holy Spirit, though, is here on Earth and available to all who call on God.

From this point our lives become a ‘letter from Christ’ in a sense, to other people, representing who we are in Him.
But what we are is not a set of rules but rather an extension of His love flowing through our lives.
However, if our hearts are hard as stone, no life is going to be evident.
But if they are soft towards the things of God, then there is room for the Holy Spirit to work and give us life in abundance.
That life doesn’t mean you will necessarily live a long, long time (you could though) but a daily life full of the things of God.
So, as a Christian, how do other people ‘read’ the letter that is your life?
Is it a horror story they want to avoid, or is it one that gives them hope and purpose in life?
