DEAR Editor,-
Congratulations on the great new look, layout and features! All these will help the Herald maintain the lead in the local paper stakes – and not just on the South Coast, but around the country.
I’ve known, for many years, that the South Coast Herald is the finest community journal in the land and have had a long and interesting relationship with Caxton Papers.

I remember (over forty years ago in Johannesburg) Terry Moolman coming to see me to explain ‘community papers’ and how he intended to launch them in South Africa and dominate parochial areas.
Thus it was that quality news coverage and entertainment came to every part of the country.
The Herald’s standard of reporting is comparable with the best metropolitan papers – and somehow always manages to cover the very latest news – first, in a weekly journal!
And the topicality and diversity of the coverage and entertainment is simply remarkable.
The Herald certainly has an excellent team, at all levels and in all departments, but the main differentiator is its unfailing community involvement.
Because there are few people that have the warm public spirit that both Bevis Fairbrother and the editor Colleen Haggard have.
Thank you from a grateful South Coaster for all the Herald and its your team does – week after week. I’m sure that all other South Coasters join me in gratitude.
