OPINION: ‘Mail ‘mysteriously’ goes missing’

Sending birthday cards to family members is a waste of money and the cards never arrive.

DEAR Editor,-

Seems any post that might be of value risks going missing at the post office. I used to receive a boxed Christmas cake from an American friend, but last year the gift and its replacement both went ‘walkabout’. Postal theft is such a problem here that many American firms will no longer send packages to SA.

In addition, standard post being sent overseas also goes missing. I’ve given up on trying to send birthday cards to family members – it’s a waste of money since the cards never arrive… and I’m quite sure the problem is not on the delivery side.

FRUSTRATED
