OPINION: ‘Community is lucky to have John’

I know that the rest of the community can list the number of times John came to the rescue and saved the day.

DEAR Editor,-

The Southport/Umtentweni community is indeed lucky to have John Irven.

John works tirelessly and gives 100 percent back to the community. He takes a genuine interest and nothing is ever too much trouble.

When I got bitten by a snake, John took me to the hospital and waited with me. John took me home – after midnight. When trees fell over at my house after violent storms, John did not hesitate to come to my assistance.

I could go on and on about the number of times John has helped me. No, not just helped – gone out of his way to help.

I know that the rest of the community can list the number of times John came to the rescue and saved the day.

We just want John to know how much we value him and how much his selfless consideration is appreciated. Thank you John.
