OPINION: ‘It is time residents unite and take action’

For almost ten years now the Herald has published letters of complaint against Ugu.

DEAR Editor,-

As this water crisis has been ongoing since January 2008 with absolutely no end in sight (as a matter of fact the situation is deteriorating every day) I believe it is now time for assistance from the World Health Organisation South Africa (WHO) in Cape Town. Their telephone number is 021 7612402 and a number for free legal advice is 0800 110 110. All this will cost is a telephone call.

It is now time for all of us to unite and take action against Ugu and the saboteurs who are putting the lives of all the residents at risk.

For almost ten years now the Herald has published letters of complaint against Ugu, which has had absolutely no effect as these complaints are like water off a duck’s back (probably the only water Ugu knows).

So far only a very small handful of residents have been attempting to do something to rectify the matter and it has actually been a waste of their time.

Let us all unite now and find out whether we, the residents, can take criminal action against Ugu and the marauding employees who are sabotaging our water system.

Contact WHO in Cape Town, because it is very obvious that the ‘powers who be’ at Ugu are failing hopelessly.
