OPINION: ‘Open letter to the mayor and councillors’

I must query their claim of representing the ‘majority who ruled against the nudist beach’

DEAR Editor,-

I see from local newspapers that the five holy men and other ‘concerned citizens’ have saved the Lower South Coast from ‘moral and social decay’ and also saved thousands of litres of water due to busloads of naturists that will not be visiting during December.

While this win-win result is highly commendable, I must query their claim of representing the ‘majority who ruled against the nudist beach’ because these holy men speak TO their congregations and not FOR them.

If a vote was taken, I think most South Coasters would vote for increased tourist growth, more jobs related to tourism and real food to eat – rather than the grass, insects, petrol, and so on, offered by some of our numerous pastors, reverends, prophets, apostles and messiahs.

Please Honourable Mayor and South Coast councillors, continue with your enlightened vision for growth here on the South Coast. A naturist beach requires NO capital outlay and could be established quicker than any other growth generator.
