From the Word: 5 Things you may not have realised about how God views you

The Word of God can bring much comfort and hope to Christians, especially those going through a difficult time.

Zephaniah 3:17 New International Version

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Many people wish (or demand) that God be able to be ‘seen’ by the naked eye before they will believe. In other words, they won’t believe He exists until they have physically seen Him.

But in the Bible it says that God is spirit, and those who are His will worship Him in spirit and in truth.

There are some promises Christians can stand on when times get tough; or anytime really.

1. If you are a believer, then God is with you.

This doesn’t necessarily mean everything will go swimmingly all the time, but He is there in it, no matter what. He always has an eternal plan in mind.

2. He is a mighty warrior.

Some think God is a weak, washed out has-been or never-was.

I suspect one day they’ll be in for a massive surprise. The Bible says God will ultimately avenge all wrong-doing, and the wrong-doing done to His people.

His timing and methods are hard to understand. But the truth is that although He is a God of love, He is also a warrior.

3. He saves.

Many people perhaps don’t realise that they need to be saved. From what … the answer is the sin into which we were born which has separated us from a pure, righteous God.

For that reason Jesus was sent into the world, to become the innocent, perfect sacrifice for us, that our sins may be erased and replaced with His perfect righteousness.

There is absolutely nothing man can do in his own strength or wisdom to save himself. The only way is to accept he has fallen short of God’s glory, and believe that God sent Jesus to die for our sins.

4. God takes great delight in us.

Take note, great delight, not just a little bit.

Many people have the notion that God is angry with them, ready to blitz them at the first opportunity.

There may have been a time when He was less than pleased with mankind, and there will come a time where judgment will come on the Earth, but for now God will not rebuke us in anger.

Sure, He will bring correction and discipline, but never in anger.

His desire is for man to believe in His son Jesus, and so be reconciled back to Him. It’s called grace.

5. God sings.

And so do His multitudes upon multitudes of angels.

And God’s song is for you. How about that? The Bible records that the angels of God rejoice when one sinner comes to salvation.
