OPINION: ‘Curious silence about strike is deafening’

Any actions which impact negatively on this should be strongly condemned, particularly by our religious leaders.

DEAR Editor,-

There has been a ‘deafening silence’ from the pious pastors (who were so vehemently against nudism on an isolated beach) concerning the immorality of the illegal Ugu strike and sabotage.

In sharp contrast to the harmlessness of the proposed nudist beach, the actions of a few Ugu employees which held our entire community to ransom, seriously damaged our economy and reputation.

I would have expected this group of moralists, if they are true to their principles, to have come out in strong condemnation of the strike action.

In addition, this group is also curiously silent concerning the behavior of drunken hooligans on the Margate beach and surrounds whose actions also damage our reputation as a family holiday destination.

To a very large extent the economy of our area, and therefore the opportunity for job creation for our people, depends on our reputation for being a prime holiday and tourist destination.

Any actions which impact negatively on this should be strongly condemned, particularly by our religious leaders.
