DEAR Editor,-
I had the tremendous privilege of attending the recent RA Engar Primary Schools’s awards and recognition day last Friday and wish to place on record my heartfelt congratulations to principal Dr Mala Appalraju, the staff members and the school governing body on what I can only term a ‘stellar’ event.

The excellence exemplified by Dr Appalraju and staff on the day in the way she honoured her pupils and the seamless manner in which organisers were able to put on display, not only the academic achievements, but also the vast creative talents of pupils, left me astounded.
I had the occasion to arrive at the event a little earlier than expected and what impressed me more than the above, was the tender and loving way staff members gave direction to their pupils leading up to the event.
What I witnessed was men and women going beyond the parameters of their vocation in their care and dedication to pupils.
As a practitioner of the law, I am intimately familiar with the right to education that is afforded by our constitution, but I am also mindful that this right does not practically guarantee the quality of same.
As a father, I count myself truly blessed and privileged to have my children be a part of such a fine institution and also to be academically and socially mentored by teachers who, in my opinion, are some of the most sterling examples of the profession.
My sincere salutations and commendations to Dr Appalraju, her staff members and the governing body on the standard she has set. I am confident that RA Engar will continue to soar to much greater heights.
Congratulations!
ROWEN MICHAEL
