OPINION: ‘Tidy ’Tweni is ready for the season’

According to South Coast Tourism, Tweni is one of the best kept beaches from Scottburgh to Port Edward.

While Tweni Conservancy was repairing the vandalised whale deck, the Tweni Residents’ Association was getting the coast ready for the influx of visitors to the beach.

Braai areas were rebuilt and cleaned up, the gutters along Commercial Road were cleared of debris, the grass at the beachfront was cut, the tree growth covering the signs on the R102 was removed and a bakkie-load of rubbish was collected along the beach and surrounding areas.

Mike Davies commented “Although Tweni Beach does not have ‘Blue Flag’ status, according to Ugu South Coast Tourism, it is one of the best kept beaches from Scottburgh to Port Edward. The municipality has invested money in the excellent facilities which are well used. It just needed a bit of tidying up.”
